Overview: Audi Mobile Museum and more!
Wednesday, February 20, 2008
What's this all about?
Nothing compares to visiting the Audi Museum Mobile in Ingolstadt to gain an understanding of the depth and breadth of Audi's technology and performance. Unfortunately, not everyone can get there easily.
For 3 days in May 2008 - May 16, 17 & 18, the Audi Club North America MidAtlantic Chapter (ACNA/MAC), working with other Audi enthusiast and Special Interest groups, is organizing a virtual/mobile Audi museum in the US at the 2008 Carlisle PA Import Nationals - the Audi Mobile Museum 2008.
The 2008 organizing groups are:
Urquattro Preservation Group
DKW USA Club
NSU Enthusiasts USA Club
4000/CGT/Urq Group
ACNA/MAC (www.acna-mac.com)
Our collective desire is to have the broadest and deepest collection of Audi automobiles in one spot as possible - from DKW's and NSU's to TT's and RS6's. In a way, recreate a glimmer of the Audi Museum Mobile here in the US for 3 days...
If you would like to participate (and we hope you do!) please bookmark this page as it will soon be updated with lots of information including registration, logistics and planned events.
There's never been a better time to "join in"!
Sincerely,
The Organizers!

Special thanks to Morgan Evans (Audi 4000/CGT Club) as she was the provider of most of the content of this FAQ!Please note that the term “Audi” is meant to reflect all Audi brands including NSU, DKW, Horch, etc. The use of the “Audi” term is not intended to offend or ‘overlook’ any of the marques in Audi’s long and illustrious history!
Q1: Who’s organizing this event and why?
A1: There are two major groups organizing this event:
- Audi 4000/CGT/Urq Club
- Audi Club North America MidAtlantic Chapter
- DKW Club of America
We are working together to have the largest, broadest and deepest representation of the Audi brand at one spot in North America at one time ever.
In the spirit of 'Audi Community' we're inviting other Audi clubs to join us such as the NSU Enthusiasts USA and more.
Note: Everyone’s invited - You do not have to be a member of these Clubs in order to participate!
Q2: How do I register for this event?
A2:There are two simple steps for event registration.
Step 1 – Notify the respective group that you’ll be attending as follows:
- 4000/CGT/Urq: morganevans@excite.com
- All others: danjackson@acna-mac.com
Step 2 – Two important parts –
- 2a: Register with Carlisle online (and pay via credit card) at http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/import/index.asp. This is the link for the event we’ll be attending and follow the links on the site to register.
Be sure to put "AUDI CLUB" as your club affiliation!
Carlisle Registration Process:
Step 1: You need to 'sign in' with Carlisle before you can purchase!
Step 2: Click on 'sign in' and then create ID (unless you already have one)
Step 3: Fill in profile information
Step 4: After creating your profile - which does not have any billing information, navigate to shopping.
Step 5: Select your item to purchase which is "Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals Showfield" which includes one Audi and 2 attendees.
Step 6: Enter your attendance profile (Year/Make/Model/Club) --- Be sure to use "Audi Club" for the Club entry!!! The "quantity term" that needs entered will be "1" if it's just you, your car, and one guest/passenger for the event (whether you stay the entire weekend, or just come for one day).
Step 7: Select "view basket"
Step 8: Navigate to "checkout" and then enter your credit card information.
- 2b: It is very important that you email the respective organizer once you’ve registered so that we can include you on our master lists. (we need to have an exact head count so we can inform Carlisle how many spaces to reserve for our respective clubs.)
- 4000/CGT/Urq: morganevans@excite.com
- All other Audi’s: danjackson@acna-mac.com
Note: Everyone’s invited - You do not have to be a member of these Clubs in order to participate!
Q3: How much does this cost? What does it include?
A3: The price is set by the Carlisle production folks. The price includes on-site parking in the respective group (this is the BIG advantage of participating, as non-group parking for Carlisle attendees is off-site and a real hassle!).
The fee is all you will have to pay for the entire 3 days. If you only show up Saturday (and/or Sunday) and not Friday, there are no discounts. You must pre-register (and pre-registration closes appox 2 weeks before the event) to get a discounted price. The quantity term is the number of passes you need...so if it is just you, your car, and zero or one guest, you put 1 as your quantity. The thing is you must ALL register under the proper Club name – "Audi Club".
A single registration (fee) includes the driver and a passenger. There is no need to enter the name of the second person. If you have more than 2, then you’ll need to make additional registrations.
Q4: Who can ‘join in’?
A4: Every Audi owner/enthusiast is invited to participate. Only Audi brand vehicles are allowed in the group.
Note: Everyone’s invited - You do not have to be a member of these Clubs in order to participate!
Q5: If I can only attend on one day, which day should I aim for?
A5: The organizers are planning to arrive Friday evening with the main get together on Saturday including a large BBQ on Saturday afternoon. There are no specific plans for Sunday but your pass will cover parking for Sunday if you chose to visit on that day as well.
Q6: Can I ‘join in’ on the day of the event?
A6: Yes but it’ll cost you a little bit more and we may run into space problems (a good problem to have!). If at all possible, register early and let the respective organizer know your plans.
Also, the intent of this event is to get as many Audi’s involved as possible so ‘join in’ on Saturday if that’s the only way you can do it. Just be flexible with us!
Q7: Is my Audi going to be “judged”?
A7: No. This is not a judging event – it’s a Virtual Audi Museum! Everyone is invited to bring their Audi in any condition they’d like. The intent is to get as many Audi’s, NSU’s, DKW’s, etc. in one spot at one time as possible.
Q8: When and where should I show up?
A8: Gate 3 opens at 7:00am ET. Plan on arriving as early as possible. If you can only make one day, plan on Saturday.
When you arrive, enter at the "show registration building" just outside gate 3 to check in and get your admission sticker, goody bag, and window card. The show field registration allows two adults per car.
If you have not pre-registered, still go to the registration building at gate 3 and register as a member of the "Audi Club". You will then enter through gate 3 as a participant.
Q9: When is the latest I can pre-register?
A9: Carlisle pre-registration closes about 2 weeks before the event. After that time, you’ll have to register the day of the event and the charges will be higher.
Please let us know if you are still planning on attending after this date!!!
Q10: Where can I get more information about this event?
A10: There are several resources available.
- 4000/CGT/Urq: www.audi4000.com
- All other Audi’s: http://acna-mac-vam.blogspot.com/
- Carlisle: : www.carsatcarlisle.com/import/index.asp
Q11: What are the lodging accomodations like?
A11: While the lodging in the Carlisle area are plenty, hotels book up quickly due to college graduations on the same dates. (see question Q99 for a list of hotels).
Q12: Why was the “Carlisle Import Nationals” selected as the venue?
A12: This is also one of the few ‘open’ import events on the east coast.
Q13: What about G2G food?
A13: The organizers are planning various arrangements including BBQ’s, beer, etc. but you are also welcome to bring your own. Please note that per the Carlisle organizers, "Responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages is permitted". As always, responsible participation is expected. We are planning on a joint BBQ on Saturday afternoon. Please join us and please bring something that everyone will enjoy.
Q14: Is on-site camping available?
A14: On-site camping is available from the Carlisle organizers. At this time there is NOT a specified 'block' for co-locating the various Audi participants. We are working on obtaining a 'block' be we cannot promise that we'll have it arranged or not. In the meantime, you can book your camping arrangements directly with Carlisle. More info is available at the Cars at Carlisle website. The fee for camping is in addition to the show field parking. Note that Carlisle has showers, etc. but no hook-ups.
Q15: Is there a Host/HQ Hotel?
A15: Experience has shown that folks arrive at different times and with different hotel needs. Therefore, there is NOT a Host/HQ hotel. Be sure to book early and book at the hotel that best meets your needs.
Q16: Will there be shirts, posters, etc. to buy?
A16: There will not be any shirts, posters, etc. to buy at the event. In 2007 we had a website that had stuff to purchase. Details to follow.
